The newly opened Savannah Children’s Museum is a wonderful open-air playground fantastic for exploring and creative play. Please make sure you have plenty of water and sunscreen.

The landscaping is beautiful, with play levels built right into the ruins of the old train depot. Exposed bricks, beams and ironwork are everywhere. The top level has a water table, musical instruments and blocks stations. The second level expands into a huge play area with a maze, playground, book nook, dress-up area, more blocks and oversize board games.

There are misters installed to help cool off on the hot Savannah summer days. Outside the museum entrance, there is a covered pavilion and child-sized train, perfect for a picnic lunch.

The museum is very much still in development, with at least two additional areas slated for later phases.
