The Visitor's Center is located at 301 on Martin Luther King Blvd. and is a recommended first stop for visitors.
Most of the major Trolley Tours depart from the Visitor's Center. A trolley tour is recommended for someone visiting the city for the first time. The parking at the Visitor's Center is free for the first hour and the fee is very reasonable thereafter.
While not advertised, the Visitor's Center parking lot is open after 6:30p and allows for free parking. But, don't enter the parking lot before 6:30p and stay pass 6:30p or you will subject yourself to a parking violation and fine. It is about a 10 block walk from the Visitor's Center to the Riverfront.
The Savannah History Museum is located within the Visitor's Center. There is also a 20 minute video presentation of Savannah History in a theater that is located within the Visitor's Center. If is easy to miss both if you are not aware that they exists.

An elevator is available and it is found on the right side (East side) of the Hyatt Hotel on Bay Street and behind the Visitor's Center (see photo at left) on Bay Street.
